Objective/ goal: Write a research essay on an art topic of your choosing to translate into a four page magazine spread using Adobe InDesign.
Background/ About: One of my favorite art periods is in the late 1800's and early 1900s when the strict confines of "good art" began to dissolve and a counter culture began to emerge with the philosophy that the objective of art is not purely recreation, but a physical manifestation of the abstract and to give shape to that which can't be defined. Some other well known expressionists are Vincent van Gogh ( Starry Night) and Edvard Munch (The Scream).

Objective/ goal: Create a two page spread about a person you admire.
Background/ About: The Nightmare Before Christmas was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I found that as I grew I found comfort and inspiration in Tim Burton's dark but light and sometimes whimsical stories which have molded aspects of my artistic style. Upon conception, I knew exactly how I wanted this spread to look. While Jack and the hill are the focus image, I also included two of my other favorite characters (Emily from Corpse Bride and Sparky from Frankenweenie) to direct the visual flow.

Objective/ goal: Create a brochure listing and defining prepress and printing terms.
Background/ About: Along with spooky things I also really enjoy comics and bright graphic works. In the golden age of comics, the comics were printed on presses and constructed using the included terms and processes included in the brochure.
Timeframe: 2015
Objective/ goal: Create a "how to" brochure on a topic of your choice.
Background/ About: My favorite genre of music is metal which is a vague parent term to a lot of different sub-genres and relate to the associated sub-culture. This how to brochure outlines what a "Metal-Head" is, a bit of the history, and lists some sub genres and topics that fall under metal music.
The general aesthetic of metal music is black and dark with strong contrast. Black and red is a staple for metal imagery. The logos at the bottom of the graph are reflective of a patches that are purchased at shows and attached to a "battle jacket" or "battle vest".
